Established in 1992, originally in Shapwick, Cherrytrees has operated from Cossington Village Hall since 2012. The hall is situated in the centre of a quiet village in lovely rural surroundings and there is an enclosed large outdoor space.
The hall has easy access, modern facilities and a large car park.
The Aim of the School is to welcome families to a place where children can develop their potential in a free, stimulating and happy atmosphere and have opportunities for self expression and social interaction with their peers.
We believe in creating a trusting and supportive relationship with parents and carers where a partnership can exist which will enrich children's lives.
Children have a wide range of learning opportunities as they interact with the Montessori learning materials and receive sensitive and skilled support from staff. Children also enjoy daily music and dance sessions, drama, art and craft, nature study, basic science and ICT, as well as a full range of play facilities.
The outside area is not only a great space for physical activities but children can also access all areas of the curriculum outdoors. We have developed a mud kitchen and the growing areas have had crops of potatoes, beans and tomatoes as well as a range of lovely flowers in pots and containers. The children look after snails, beetles, spiders and other small creatures and feed the birds in the winter months. We recently supported the Secret World Wildlife appeal and donated supplies to help, in particular, badgers, hedgehogs, foxes and birds survive the winter months.
